Two miter saws - one circular, one band - accommodate the company's full range of structural steel, plus small-section shapes. Paired circular and hand miter saws cut a range of long products from fractional-size angles through wide-flange structural I-beams at Triad Metals International's Petersburg Virginia service center. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Triad built the greenfield Petersburg operation 2(1/2) percent years ago to tip the structural steel market in the South. The 150,000 sq. ft. warehouse and processing center stocks beams in widths from 4 in. through 36 in., weights up to 230 lbs./ft. and lengths to 70 ft. The largest columns are 14-in. diameter and 132 lbs/ft. That's not all. Structural arc about 63 percent of Petersburg's sales, according to Dennis (Rock) McGovern, plant manager. The other 33 percent arc mug products, and Petersburg stocks a full range of angles, channels, flats and tube. Its smallest shape: 3/4-in. angles 1/8-in. thick.
