Photo-crosslinkable polyimide(PI) which containsCF_3 moiety wassynthesized. Polarized UV light transformedketone group of PI to hydroxyl group. Which was confirmed byIR and UV-visible spectroscopy. We investigated the dichroicUV-absorption before and after photo-reactionwith linearlypolarized light. The grooves were formed on the surface of PIfilm after irradiation with polarized UV-light. It was interestingto observe that the alignment of grooves was perpendicular to thepolarized director, while the orientation of LC was parallel to thegroove alignment.
