Intermet Plant to Supply Engine Castings for Toyota Camry Hybrid

Intermet Corp., Troy, Mich., has been selected as a supplier of engine cam covers for Toyota's new hybrid Canny. Intermet's plant in Palmyra, Mo., will diecast the magnesium cam covers for the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid, which goes into production later this year at Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America's (TMMNA) Georgetown, Ky., assembly plant. The cam cover will be assembled to Toyota's 2.4-L, 4-cylinder gas/electric engine, part of Toyota's exclusive Hybrid synergy Drive system, which also is offered on Prius, Lexus KA 400h and select Highlander models. Intermet's Palmyra plant currently manufactures the cam cover for the Camry's standard gas-powered 2.4-L, 4-cylinder engine.
