CPSC Issues CPSIA Guidelines On Eve Of Enactment

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) released official guidelines for compliance with the sweeping new law called the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2009 on Feb. 9, the night before the law went into effect. The guidelines seek to answer vital questions regarding the definition of a children's product, the compliance and testing timetable, what should be done when a merchant discovers his product does not comply with the law and what will happen to merchants who sell products in violation of the CPSIA.
