Federal Judge Rejects Plaintiffs' Witness As Unqualified in Lead

Melvin and Elizabeth Jackson, individually and on behalf of their children Melody, Makala and Madison Jackson, sued the United States of America in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina under the Federal Tort Claims Act, 28 U.S. Code Section 2671, alleging that they were not properly treated for lead poisoning by the Family Health Center Inc (FHC). The Jacksons argued that when Madison Jackson was tested and found to have an elevated blood-lead level of 11 micrograms per deciliter (ug/dL), FHC did not timely diagnose, report and treat the lead poisoning.
