Government Issues Report Regarding Toy Safety System

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Nov. 20 released a new report detailing the results of what it calls its "robust toy safety system." (Report available. Document #77-131209-009S.) According to the report, CPSC issued only 31 toy recalls in fiscal year 2013. This compares with 172 toy recalls in fiscal year 2008. None of the 2013 recalls involved a lead violation. In 2008, 19 recalls were due to excessive lead levels in toys.
