Hyundai Starts Production of New Engines With CGI Blocks From Sintercast

SinterCast, Stockholm, Sweden, will provide the technology to cast the cylinder blocks for two new commercial vehicle engines by Hyundai Motor Co. Hyundai recently began series production of the 3.9- and 5.9-L engines at its facility in Jeonju, Korea, which will be produced with compacted graphite iron (CGI). While Hyundai will cast the products in-house, it has solicited the services of SinterCast to offer CGI expertise.
