Esco Turbine Technologies, Portland, Ore., built a 3,500-sq.-ft. shell room at its Cleveland metalcasting facility. The company announced it hopes the new room, outfitted with robotic equipment from U.K.-based VA Technologies, "will provide enhanced process control, safety and capacity for further growth." The room will be used in the production of Esco's line of equiaxed parts, where the company has seen growth in the aerospace and power generation sectors. The new equipment allows molding materials to move without human intervention from pattern wash through the shell build process, when they become ready for de-wax.
