Pharmacists in Ontario and Alberta seek new compensation deals

As their provincial governments move to control expanding prescription drug budgets, pharmacists in both Ontario and Alberta are seeking deals to protect their income and patient services. Efforts to reform public drug plans are playing out differently in the 2 provinces, however. Alberta pharmacists and pharmacy owners reached an interim agreement with the government in October to develop a new pharmacy services and funding model, but by mid-December, Ontario negotiations appeared stalled.
