Medavie Blue Cross and the Council of Independent Community Pharmacy Owners (CICPO) in Newfoundland and Labrador have settled a disagreement that earlier had owners threatening to stop accepting the insurer's cards in their pharmacies. The issue was a new payment schedule that Medavie Blue Cross presented to pharmacies across Atlantic Canada in November 2009. The company had signalled plans to lower reimbursements to pharmacists for generic drugs, as contracts with pharmacies came up for renewal in 2010.
