D.H.2 The D.H.2 is one of my favourite World War One aircraft. Although not a revolutionary design, it was the first real effective challenge to the German air supremacy and effectively ended the 'Fokker Scourge', the first phase of what was to become an ongoing seesaw battle for air supremacy which lasted over the entirety of World War One and saw the aircraft develop into an effective fighting machine and a vital tool of war, The D.H.2 was the Royal Flying Corps first real single seat lighter. Although not fast, its sensitive controls made it highly manoeuvrable and the unique layout provided the pilot with excellent vision. It also had an effective forward firing machine gun. The D.H. 2 fought with some distinction on both the Western and Middle F.ast fronts despite its antiquated looks.
