Bayer boosts capacity at Belgium PC facility

Bayer, Leverkusen, Germany, will increase polycarbonate capacity at its Antwerp, Belgium, facility by 40 000 tonnes/year. New capacity should start up in the second half of 2000. The new plant will raise Bayer's European PC capacity to 400 000 tonnes/year. It will use melt-phase technology which unlike other technologies does not involve toxic phosgene.
