Australia's National Plant to Combat Pollution of the Sea by Oiland Other Noxious and Hazardous Substances (the National Plan) hasoperated since 1973. The objectives of the National Plan are based onAustralia's obligations as a signatory to the InternationalConvention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation1990 and a responsibility to protect natural and artifical (man made)environments from the adverse effects of oil polution and minimiskethose effects where protection is not possible.
