Wacker has launched full production of a new grade of Silpuran silicone rubber-the ninth in the series-with the latest version tested to ISO 9001 quality stan-dard as well as biocompatibility compliance.The company says the material is applicable for the production of seals that contact skin,blood,plasma,or dialysis fluid;medical tubing,catheters,hoses,and profiles;and gaskets,membranes,handles,and needle-free valves.Vertically integrated,Wacker has silicon metal mining assets,which it says gives it greater control over raw materials and higher quality standards for its manufacturing sites in Germany,China,and the U.S.The material can withstand steam sterilization to 130°C in an autoclave for up to 500 cycles.
