PET beer bottles can be pasteurized

Pasteurizable beer bottles with shelf life of 16 weeks can be processed in a single layer from polyethylene rercphthalatc(PPT)using a new two-stage injection stretch blow-molding application development from Nissci ASB(Nagano.Japan).The heat-set,single-layer bottles have the necessary strength to enable pasteurization of the carbonated contents of the bottle at 65 deg C.Carbonation loss on the shelf is said to be 15% over 16 weeks.
