China's 1st large supercritical units go commercial at Waigaoqiao site

The completion of the 2 × 900 MWe Waigaoqiao Phase II coal fired plant in Shanghai marks a further key step in China's adoption of supercritical pulverised coal technology. The country's previous supercritical plants have been in the 600 MWe size range, the first being the Shidongkou 2 × 600 MWe power station, which entered service in 1992 and is also in Shanghai.
