A new twin-screw extruder with microplunger feeder simulates the extrusion process for 20g and 1.00g batches.Possible end uses include compounding,devolatilization,and reactive extrusion.In addition to segmented screws/barrels,a stainless-steel process section,and state-of-the-art control/data acquisition package, the Nano-16 twin-screw extruder has an 1.18/1 OD/ID(outer diameter/inner diameter)ratio,resulting in a free volume of 0.9 cmVdiameter--the lowest free volume available for a twin-screw extruder that is scalable to production-class machinery.
