The changing face of moldmaking

Moldmaking continues to be a chal-lenging business for a number of reasons,among them that OEMs are placing more of the onus for total manufacturing solutions on the moldmaker,and the increasing cost of implementing new technology to stay competitive.Maximizing new technology such as high-speed machining means using it to optimize mold-build time.While moldmakers used to machine many of their own mold components and mold bases,today's mold company is finding it's often more cost effective and faster to work with suppliers that have developed new standard mold components and other solutions to help moldmakers create molds faster,and mold better components to spec.
