Lower-cost COC grade targets packaging

A second-generation cyclic olefin copoly-mer(COC),Topas 8007F-100,provides a broad processing window and good cost/performance ratio as a blending component in polyethylene-based packaging films.It adds stiffness,controlled tear,improved sealing,and antiblock characteristics.Although its optical properties are not at the same high level as other Topas packaging grades,they are satisfactory in many applications.Best results are achieved with metal-locene and plastomer linear low-density polyethylene,low-and high-density PE grades,says Bernd Sparenberg,global marketing manager.
