Dramatic developments are underway in robotics for injection molding. Among the key innovations are virtual-reality programming, which was demonstrated at K'98 by Wittmann, and a high-speed robot with a linear motor (no rotary motion to convert), which was also shown there in prototype form by Sytrama. Another important trend is servomotor technology being designed into ever smaller robots and mass-produced in standard packages, this ultimately reducing prices.
