Melt-processible UHMWPE takes on new applications

For processors who thought that ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene(UHMWPE)could only be ram-extruded or compression molded,a new family of grades has been developed that are melt processible.Luvotech grades can be extruded or injection molded using standard equipment,says Thomas Pontiff,general manager of this company,a new joint venture between Techmer PM and Lehvoss.These grades provide good wear resistance,surface cleanliness,lubricity,and hardness.
