NEC Corp.(Tokyo)has developed flame-retardant biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA)resin rated at UL94 5V and UL 94 V-0/1.mm that does not contain halogenated phosphorus-based flame retardants.The flame retardant is a special metal hydroxide that absorbs heat during ignition.
