A good place to start is with the running boards. These are made up integral with the splashers and cab sides and will test your soldering skills severely (drawings 34 and 35 and photo 14). Order the footplate material ready cut to width and slightly overlength. Trim it to the dimensions (check against the job) in the drawing allowing a full 0.031in. overlap over the beams at each end and at the side. Next, cut to length the 1/4 x 1/4in. brass angle valances, silver solder on the downward extension at the front then rivet and solder the valance in place leaving a 0.031in. overlap at the side. Fit to the chassis and check the location of the fixing screws, three each side, and drill 8BA clear and countersink the holes.
