In the late 1990s I decided to build a clock. When it came to quartering the wheels I hesitated. I am not good with a piercing saw and the thought of cleaning up the mess afterwards using files gave me the habdabs. I looked at my vertical mill with its rotary table and, after a little thought, I knew I could use the machine to do the job. Inspector Meticulous would have chided me by saying "that is not how Graham or Breguet would have done it". Okay, but my method works - "nuff said"! This method will let you cross out wheels with parallel spokes. I am not certain about wheels with tapered spokes, as I have not looked into them.
