Helping Dad make a Simple Mill Engine: Stewart Hart's engine to encourage a beginner (PART 5)

The 11 year old son of an old work friend has a developing talent for Computer Aided Design and has produced a number of 3D animated drawings for some of my models. Wishing to take this fledgling interest further, he and his Dad were lucky enough to drop on a very nice second hand Myford lathe. This got me thinking about my own struggles with lack of equipment and finances when first setting up my own workshop, and the need for a simple, low cost project that used the minimum of equipment and would stimulate interest for further projects.
