Making Alloy Wheels and Pneumatic Tyres - Alex M. du Pre describes making realistic components

My 1/5 scale model car project was described in a series of three articles starting in M.E. Vol. 204, No. 4371. A key objective of that project was to follow full-size practice, as far as possible, and this meant alloy wheels and tubeless pneumatic tyres. I could not find any suitable - or affordable - model tyres commercially available so, being ready for a challenge, decided to make them myself.
