The Rexie Racer: David Owen moves on a generation

Many years ago, when my now grown up son was small, I bought a second-hand pedal car for him which I repainted and generally fettled. Now he has his own little boy and I thought I would do the same for my three year old grandson, Rex. Sadly, despite looking hard, I could only find expensive Austin A40 replicas or rather flimsy modern ones. Nothing to refurbish seemed available so I decided to build one from scratch. My son James' car had the registration JAMIE so the natural choice for Rex's car was REXIE and so the Rexie Racer was born! (photo 1).
