Richard Stephen describes his lathe for a CNC mill, to make accurate, repetitive turning projects easy. For nearly 10 years I have been using CNC and in that time have retrofitted two milling machines to computerised control. However, I have not had the urge to convert either of my two lathes. The reason was that I did not do enough suitable work on the lathe to warrant the expense and time. Nevertheless there are times when a CNC lathe would be very useful. For example, for turning really decorative clock pillars, rather than the rather plain ones that I normally tend to make.
