The long-running saga of the Basra Gas joint venture may soon end in disappointment. Iraqi deputy oil minister Ahmed al-Shamma told reporters on May 30 that Royal Dutch Shell had to agree to the terms of a final contract by the week of June 6-12 2011, failing which the project in its current form would be scrapped.
