摘要

In this paper, we present two concepts for the abstract visualization of virtual 3Dcity models. Our first concept is an approach for the automatic creation of a generalized 3D citymodel. To accomplish this, the city model components are mapped to a cell structure derivedfrom a given infrastructure network. For each cell, the weighted average height of the con-tained components is calculated and used to create generalized cell geometry. Significant com-ponents, e.g., landmarks, are handled in a special way. This approach implements the genera-lization operators grouping, aggregation and emphasis. Our second concept is concerned withan emphasizing visualization of landmarks in virtual 3D city models. These are scaled depen-ding on the distance, making landmarks visible from large camera distances as they overtoptheir neighborhood. While approaching, their size is dynamically adapting, until they willreach their original size.
