Local daily La Nacion reported that eight small-to-mid-sized FAME producers which serve the regulated domestic market have ceased production with the remaining 25 standing on the brink of an economic collapse. The government has issued reference prices for the domestic market only until end-November 2013. The end-November reference price for small producers (annual production capacity below 25,000 tonnes) is ARS5,726 ($1=ARS7.87) per tonne, that for midsized manufacturers (25,000-100,000) is ARS5,684. The producers said that production costs currently total ARS7,450 per tonne.
