Piedmont BioProducts plans to set up a biorefinery in Gretna, Virginia. The project is to start operations in late 2012. The plant is to process switch grass and timber byproducts into oil. Dynamic Fuels' Fischer-Tropsch biofuel facility in Geismar, Louisiana has achieved full rate production levels but not on a continuous basis, one of its parent companies, synthetic fuel developer Syntroleum Corp., reported. By the end of February 2011, the plant has produced and sold 3.1 mln gallons of renewable diesel, 0.7 mln gallons of renewable naphtha and 40,000 gallons of jet fuel, since the start of commercial operations in November 2010.
