Biofuel industry associations BDBE, UFOP and VDB are asking the federal government to introduce greenhouse gas (GHG)-based biofuel quotas, originally planned for 2015, already in 2013. The associations proposed a 4.50% reduction in GHG emissions for 2013, equivalent to a biofuels quota of 7.50% by energy content, rising by 0.5 percentage points annually to 10.00% by 2020. The proposal includes an increase in the global biofuels quota to 7.00% from 2011 and 7.25% in 2012. Present legislation forsees a 6.25% biofuels quota for the years 2010-2014.
