JULY 2009 BIODIESEL CONSUMPTION REACHES 8-MONTH HIGH

HM Custom data showed that 2009 biodiesel consumption reached an eight-month high of 85,242 tonnes, which compares with 77,127 in the prior month and 82,671 one year ago. This brought biodiesel consumption in Jan/Jul 2009 to 508,316 tonnes, up from 350,593 for the corresponding 2008 period. Fuel alcohol consumption in July 2009 was 23.9 mln litres, up from 18.1 mln in the prior month and 13.1 mln one year earlier. Jan/Jul 2009 fuel alcohol use is standing at 139.0 mln litres, up from 115.0 mln.
