World ethanol output could reach a new record high next year as a massive corn crop in the US is likely to keep production costs and prices low. This could boost competitiveness at the pump and help gain new markets. However, the new high cannot hide the fact that the political environment for biofuels in general remains fragile. While programs for growth gain traction in many countries around the world the situation in the top 3 markets, the US, Brazil and the EU is far from clear.
