Local consultancy Canaplan said the Centre/South (CS) sugarcane crush should reach between 543.3 mln and 558.8 mln tonnes in 2009/10, which compares with 535 mln forecast by Datagro. Canaplan estimated that between 31.9 mln and 32.8 mln tonnes of sugar, tel quel, will be produced in 2009/10, while it pegged ethanol production at between 25.2 bln and 26.7 bln litres. This compares with Datagro's CS sugar production estimate of 31.1 mln tonnes, tel quel, and its ethanol output forecast of 25.5 bln litres.
