JAN/APR 2012 ETHANOL EXPORTS DOWN ON THE YEAR

US ethanol exports in April 2012 amounted to 236.5 mln litres. This brought the Jan/Apr 2012 total to 1.016 bln litres, down from 1.227 bln one year earlier. Denatured ethanol exports in Jan/Apr 2012 were virtually flat on the year (895.2 mln litres vs. 897.3 mln). Shipments to the EU increased to 194.6 mln litres from 161.9 mln litres. However, Canada remained the main destination with 301.3 mln litres vs. 285.1 mln. Denatured ethanol exports to Brazil fell to 114.7 mln litres from 262.1 mln. Exports to the United Arab Emirates declined on the year (119.0 mln vs. 129.6 mln). Oman emerged as a new major destination (75.7 mln litres vs. nil) as well as Peru (48.7 mln vs. nil).
