Chemtex plans to set up a cellulosic ethanol plant using switchgrass in the state of North Carolina. The plant will have a production capacity of 20 mln gallons per year. Construction could commence in July 2012 with operations being anticipated to start in January 2014. The company is setting up a 50 mln litre (13 mln gallon) cellulosic ethanol plant processing Wheat straw in Piedmont in Italy.
