FEEBLE RECOVERY IN Q1 BIODIESEL DEMAND

Biodiesel use in March 2016 remained up on the year but stayed weak when compared with historical averages, HM Custom data show. Consumption amounted to around 32,000 tonnes, up from 24,000 one year earlier. The average blending share was 1.5% vol., a one-year low, against 1.2% in March 2015. The Jan/Mar 2016 total rose to around 126,000 tonnes from 110,000 (2.0% vs 1.9%). The Jan/Mar 2015 and 2016 data compare with around 172,000 tonnes in Q1 2014 (3.0%).
