The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued its final version of the 2017 Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). When compared with EPA's May proposal, the final 2017 RFS includes an upward revision of 480 mln gallons to 19.280 bln gallons of renewable fuels. EPA raised the advanced biofuel mandate - which requires 50% life-cycle carbon emissions reductions - by 280 mln gallons to 4.280 bln. This leaves 15.000 bln gallons for conventional biofuels, mainly corn ethanol (May: 14.800 bln).
