Badal calls for withdrawal of duty on steel imports

Punjab is more popularly known as the granary of India being the largest producer of wheat and quality rice. But it is also home to a large number of small-scale units and is one of the largest consumers of steel. Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal said that the customs duty along with the rising raw material cost has led to steep rise in steel prices. The CM demanded for a withdrawal of import duty on steel as the SSIs in the state are already reeling under great hardships.
