When the sceptre of global slowdown is pervading more and more areas of world economy, it is but natural for global steel sector to fall in the same line. No wonder, Global steel output was dipped to 1,330 million tonne in 2008, after registering a buoyant run that began in 2000. One positive note that cheers is that the steel output in the Bric nations as a whole continued to grow at 1.7 per cent. Korea, India and China bucked the trend of global slowdown.
