Base metals improve, gold and silver hit high

Trade buying supported base metals on Friday (Feb 9), though further volatility was expected at the London METAL Exchange. Nickel was supported by supply deficit and copper due to stock drawdown. Gold rose to a one-week high and silver jumped to a two month high. Gold prices strengthened on Friday due to continued stock up by traders. The yellow metal fixed at 664.50 dollars per oz on Friday afternoon, up from 657.85 dollars per oz in the morning fix and compared with the previous day's afternoon fix of 656 dollars per oz.
