SMZs for domestic mining sector mooted

Assocham has sought creation of Special Management Zones(SMZs) for the domestic mining sector in a bid to make if more lucrative to attract capital in the form of investments and FDIs. It pointed out that the performance of the mining sector has been extremely dismal so far. Even as Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) has given 73 approvals for foreign direct investments (FDIs) in this sector, there have been no concrete results. There should be a 'single window' clearing system for approvals in this sector, it added.
