MMR Events makes a successful debut with 'Steel Seminar & Buyer-Seller Meet'

The policy of liberalisation and globalisation for accelerated economic development adopted by the government has put India at the forefront of the global steel industry, according to Mr. Moosa Raza, a distinguished formal civil servant, now the President of Indian Steel Alliance and the Chief Guest at the seminar on 'Steel, Raw Material and Applications' and 'Buyer-Seller Meet' organised by MMR Events-a division of Minerals & Metals Review. He further said that the country could realise its full potential if the Indian steel sector met the challenges of keeping the costs to the minimum, consistently maintaining a high level of quality and timeliness in delivery. The event began in earnest with the welcome address by Ms. Bina Verma, Executive Director MMR, on Friday at Hotel J.W. Marriot, Mumbai. As many as 10 experts on the technology, management and economics of steel industry presented their study papers in the two-day event (February 11 and 12, 2005) of a seminar cum Buyer-Seller meet. The participants in the seminar included not only the representatives of major Indian steel companies such as Tata Steel. Essar and Ispat but also those from the middle and small-scale units. The proceedings in the seminar were conducted by Mr. Suresh Shah, Consulting Editor, Mineral & Metals Review. Warmly welcoming the delegates Ms. Verma said that MMR was proud to add another dynamic dimension in the form of MMR Events as a forum to present views and to interact and network within the industry to its continual endeavour to serve the minerals and metals industry. "With our experience and your continued support to our organisation," we are confident that we will be able to effectively organise events that will act as a focal point for the industry," the said.
