India aims to produce 700 mt coal by next fiscal year

The country's coal output has been growing far slower than demand over the past few years because of Coal India's inability to expand its mines. Therefore, India aims to produce 700 million tonne of coal in the next fiscal year, the country's coal secretary said. Ultimately, improved coal supply is set to bring down power generation loss in the country to a four-year low this year, Parliament was informed.
