CCEA approves cost-plus pricing model

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has okayed a mechanism that would allow the electricity generators to pass through to distribution utilities the cost of expensive imported coal used by them which comes as a major relief to private power producers. "The higher cost of imported coal has to be considered for a pass-through," said Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
