The World Steel Association (Worldsteel) has asked for a probe by competent competition authorities against the global mining giants - Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and Vale - for their alleged monopolistic trade practices according to reports. The demand from the- global steel body comes after these mining companies effected a short-term iron ore supply contact with various steel producers across the globe as against the previous practice of entering into annual arrangement.
