New policy to pep up mining sector; North East to get a boost

Mining activities in the north east is said to get a boost with the new mining policy being formulated. The new policy will overrule an outdated mining law of 1957. Union minister for mines, BK Handique said that the new national mining policy will be placed in Parliament by the winter session. Mr Handique added: "Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 has been amended several times. We thought there was a need to come up with a new policy."
