Steel A see saw trend seen in prices across the country

The month of May 2015 witnessed a sea saw trend as regards the long steel product prices across the country. The prices of Mild Steel (MS) Ingots declined marginally towards the end of the month by around Rs 200 to 500/MT at the major markets of Mandi Gobindgarh, Mumbai, Raipur and Ghaziabad. The prices of long steel products touched an almost 3 to 4 year lows at most of the benchmark markets across the country during the month in response to a combination of a secular falling demand in the core infrastructure/construction sectors, falling raw material prices and relatively higher supply amidst increased imports of finished and semi-finished products during the last one year.
